weddings!

i have recently become slightly obsessed with wedding planning... and we're not technically officially engaged. but he keeps telling people in front of me or when i'm not there that we'll probably get married within the year...

i'm not quite sure he realizes this, but that's the kind of thing i need to know. i understand that he is a man, and he would be completely fine with just the two of us going down to city hall (or, god forbid, vegas) and getting married. sorry honey, but that's probably not going to work for me. first of all, i think my family would push me even further into black sheep territory if i got married without telling them, or inviting them. plus, i'm a girl. i want a pretty dress and lots of flowers and sparkly things. i want our people there. (well, my people at least. his i could give or take. ;) )

i want our wedding to be pretty casual- but i don't want a backyard barbeque. i plan on doing most of the work (favors, decorations, etc) myself. i LOVE doing crafty things, and i don't want to pay someone to make something i can definitely make myself. also that way i can make sure they're exactly the way i want. (not that i'm picky or anything.) i want it to have a kind of vintage, old fashioned feel to it. i want to find a location that we don't have to be out of at a specified time so that we can just relax and hang out all night. we'll most likely be in denver by the time we get married. i'm thinking of maybe finding a house or lodge of some sort that we can rent for a weekend so that we have a whole house and lots of land to ourselves for the weekend.

i want to have lots of appetizers and little bites, rather than a sit-down dinner or dinner buffet. and i DEFINITELY want a candy bar. i think i want to combine the idea of a dessert table and a candy bar, have all kinds of sweets on the table. i want an indoor room with tables for eating, and an outdoor space with couches and lots of pillows for lounging, and i'm toying with the idea of having movies playing all day out there. (my main reason for this is that i'd like to have a popcorn bar.)
