lucy sullivan is getting married by marian keyes

genre: chick lit

recap: british girl sees a fortune teller who says she'll get married, she supposedly sets out "dating all kinds of men" but really only dates one drunk bastard until she realizes that he's just like her drunk father and falls in love with her best guy friend.

review: i really hated this book. i had to force myself to read it. (sidenote: i have a funny thing about having to finish books i start, even if they suck.) i liked the ending but 610 pages to get through what could have been covered in 300 was ridiculously excessive and the plot completely dragged on. anyone could have called lucy falling for daniel within the first 3 chapters, but we had to sit through about 400 pages of boring crap about gus until the daniel part actually took effect. had to read through every excruciating detail of one drunken night after another only to skip ahead months at a time, and then get excruciating details again. and after all that, only a vague mention of marriage at the end! not even a real engagement! lucy was incredibly immature and annoying. the ignorance to all around her was funny for about 4 pages, and then got extremely annoying. i will definitely not read another book by marian keyes. i had this come up on my amazon recommendations for years, and now i know why i waited so long to actually buy it.
