genre: biographyrecap: {front flap} marcia brady, eldest daughter on television's the brady bunch, had it all - style, looks, boys, brains and talent. no wonder her younger sister jan was jealous! for countless adolescents across america who came of age in teh early 1970s, marcia was teh ideal american teenager. girls wanted to be her. boys wanted to date her. but what viewers didn't know about the always-sunny, perfect marcia was that offscreen, her real-life counterpart, maureen mccormick, the young actress who portrayed her, was living a very different - and not-so-wonderful - life. now, for the very first time, maureen tells the shocking and inspirational true story of the beloved teen generations have invited into their living rooms - and the woman she became.
review: i bought this book mostly as a joke. it was $1.99 at goodwill and i thought it would look humorous on my shelf. i was surprised. it was actually terrific. well written, interesting... i read the whole book in 1 day. couldn't put it down. i was surprised by her drug use, but for some reason not put off. it was really interesting learning what went on behind the scenes, not just of the brady bunch, but of the follow-ups (brady brides, and my family's favorite, a very brady christmas). no, i'm not joking. definitely one of our favorites. her family life was interesting too. actually, i wish the book hadn't ended in the middle of the crisis with her dad and kevin; i want to know how that ends. maybe i should read more biographies.
