new bedroom plans

i've been stumped as to what to do about a headboard in colorado. i was planning on making one because my favorites are way out of my price range. however, then i read this post by layla at the lettered cottage, and i realized how dumb i've been!

i don't know why it never occurred to me to look at cheaper stores, or to paint a store-bought bed. because really, ikea is about as cheap as you can go, and that's where i was originally planning on getting my bed.

so, i decided to scope out some other, cheaper websites. and i don't know why i waited so long!

i like all four of these, but my two favorites are the top two. i LOVE the blue one (the color is called caribbean) and it's just like the ones i've been looking at for A LOT more money. but i've always, always wanted a canopy bed and i can't believe how well that one fits my budget. like, with a few weeks of saving i could afford it, instead of a few years. also walmart has free shipping with site-to-store, which is also quite a savings.

so now i'm not sure. that blue is definitely my color, and it is exactly what i've been picturing. on the other hand, the metal bed lends itself to other color schemes, different seasons, and most importantly, which i didn't think of until i read the lettered cottage post, it won't block the sunlight if i put the bed in front of a window. i don't know what this new bedroom will look like yet, and if the only place to put the bed is in front of the window, i don't think i want my huge velvet headboard to block all the light.

i think the best thing to do is to wait until we get up there, see the room and how our furniture fits into it, and decide then. it's not like i have the money to buy anything in the next month before we go anyway.
